Future Yard will take place in Birkenhead in August and will showcase contemporary new music with a bill topped by Anna Calvi and Bill Ryder-Jones.
The small shipbuilding town on the banks of the river Mersey will be home to the two-day, multi-venue festival, which will welcome Forest Swords Presents… Pylon, a newly-commissioned sound and performance installation set within the 850-year-old Birkenhead Priory.
Meanwhile Anna Calvi and Bill Ryder-Jones will play in Birkenhead Town Hall and the festival will also make use of the Bloom Building, a new arts space and mental health support hub, as well as the local venue Gallagher’s.
The first line-up announcement also includes Stella Donnelly, Charles Watson, Pixx and Audiobooks.
The festival aims to build on the rich musical history of the Wirral peninsular, which produced Half Man Half Biscuit, Elvis Costello, The Coral and Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark.
Future Yard Festival takes place from 23 to 24 August and weekend wristbands cost £40.
The first Line-up announcement is as follows:
